Contest 62CS

The higher the climb through the range, the sleeker the generic Contest styling seems, and the 62CS presents a developed pretty profile with accented, soft angled, low rise, long glazed coachroof topping the powerful hull’s straight run sheerline.  The two cockpit plan, with distinct working and social areas, and twin helm stations, hint at size, further confirmed by the hydraulically folding transom which reveals a tender garage  and creates a full beam bathing and boarding platform.

Below the options for interior plan are many with the large central saloon at the centre of anything from three to five sleeping cabins with a variety of berth configurations from guest doubles and bunks to mirrored aft cabins in place of the usual and popular fully serviced, full-beam master suite.

Space abounds, filled by natural light from the many hatches, hull and panoramic windows®, and ventilation to all cabins.

Interior/Exterior

exterieur

Retaining a simplicity in handling despite size, the Contest 62CS is an owner-driver delight. The three spreader, swept back rig has no need of runners, and split backstays open the transom wide for central stepping down to the bathing platform. Sprayhood and bimini assemblies fold neatly fore and aft and from the twin wheel set-up with dual pedestal navcomms array, the helm has a good clear view of sailplan and targets, while remaining in direct communication with those enjoying the cockpit’s comforts. Customisations include stylish fixed windscreen.

interieur

From the broad end-angled step companionway to soft contoured-top cabinetry doubling as handholds for safe passage, the making of this interior is not about serving up simply an apartment like home, it begins with practicality at sea. In Contest’s modern vein, tactile yet resilient marine proof leathers and fabrics are offered as an option for panelling in place of traditional expanses of woodgrain. Small detailing includes concealed latches for the plentiful stowage cupboards and lockers. Big detailing means perhaps the widest cabin plan options in any boat this size.
